Gassnova has knowledge of CO2 capture and storage in the entire innovation system, including research, technology development and capture, transport and storage technology. Gassnova will actively connect specialist environments within research, industry and public enterprises and, through its various tasks, will facilitate the achievement of the state’s goals with the investment in the capture and storage of CO2.

In accordance with the Articles of Association, Gassnova’s purpose and primary tasks are to:
Gassnova represents the state’s interests in the capture, transport and geological storage of CO2 and advises the Ministry of Energy on CO2 management. The company has an important responsibility to contribute to the knowledge base for the further development of CO2 management and the implementation of the government’s overall policy in this area.
Gassnova will actively bring together specialist environments within research, industry and public sector organisations and, through its various tasks, its own initiatives and in cooperation with others, will facilitate the achievement of the government’s goals for the CO2 management initiative.

Gassnova safeguards the state’s interests in capturing, transporting and geologically storing CO2, and advises the Ministry of Energy on CO2 management. The company plays a pivotal role in developing the knowledge base for advancing CO2 management and implementing the government’s comprehensive policy in this area. Gassnova actively connects professional communities within research, industry, and public enterprises. Through its own initiatives and collaborations, Gassnova facilitates the achievement of the state’s CO2 management goals.
The government’s CO2 management work includes the Langskip demonstration project for CO2 capture and storage, the Mongstad Technology Centre (TCM) and the CLIMIT programme, which supports the research, development and demonstration of CO2 management technology. It also includes research centres for environmentally friendly energy, which address R&D challenges throughout the value chain. The aim is to realise large-scale CO2 management.
